DUOTTS After 1,000 km: Honest Review – What‘s Good, What’s Not
I’ve had my DUOTTS for six months now. Just over 1,000 km on the odometer. Enough time for the honeymoon phase to end and the real opinions to set in.
Here‘s my honest take: what I love, what annoys me, and whether I’d buy it again.

Why I Bought It
I was looking for an e-bike that could handle my 15 km daily commute without breaking the bank. The DUOTTS C29 caught my eye – €899 for a 750W motor, 48V battery, and 29-inch tyres. It seemed too good to be true.
Six months later, I can tell you: it‘s not perfect. But it’s pretty damn good for the price.

The Good – What I Genuinely Love
The range is real. Duotts claims 50-60 km in pure electric mode and 80-100 km with pedal assist. In real-world use – mixed terrain, some hills, moderate pedalling – I‘m getting about 70-80 km per charge. That’s enough for three days of commuting without worrying about charging.
It‘s a proper bike, not a toy. At 26.5 kg, it’s not light. But it feels solid. The aluminium frame handles rough roads without creaking or flexing. You know you‘re on something built to last.
The motor does its job quietly. The 750W rear hub motor provides smooth, consistent assistance. No jerky starts, no weird noises. It just works.
It blends in. The C29 looks like a conventional mountain bike. That’s a plus in cities where e-bikes attract unwanted attention from thieves.
One rider put it simply: “Excellent E-bike. Of course if you like a big and solid bike... there is a lot of value for money here”.
The Annoying – What I Don‘t Love
It’s heavy. 26.5 kg is fine on the road. It‘s not fine when you need to carry it up three flights of stairs or lift it onto a train bike rack. If portability is a priority, this isn’t your bike.
The design is… unexciting. The C29 is finished in black with some blue strips. It‘s not ugly. But it’s also not something you‘ll get compliments on. As one review put it: “If you do like the extra attention, you definitely won’t get any with this bike”.
Assembly required some patience. A reviewer noted “small problems with the delivery, but everything was solved”. I had a similar experience – nothing major, but you‘ll need basic tools and some mechanical sympathy to get it set up right.
The F20 model – which I also tested briefly – is described as “great for relaxed riding, commuting, and cruising” but “not ideal for long pedalling sessions”. The C29 is better in this regard, but it’s still more of a commuter than a tourer.
What Surprised Me
The torque sensor makes a difference. Unlike cheaper e-bikes with cadence sensors, the C29‘s torque sensor responds to how hard you pedal. It feels natural, not like the bike is running away from you.
The 29-inch tyres roll over everything. Potholes, cobblestones, gravel paths – the big wheels absorb them all. I’ve stopped swerving around every imperfection in the road.
I ride more than I planned. Having an e-bike means I take the long way home. I explore side streets. I go to the shops on the other side of town. It‘s not just a commuter – it’s made me more active overall.
The 1,000 km Verdict
Would I buy it again? Yes.
Not because it‘s perfect – it isn’t. But because it does exactly what I bought it for: reliable, affordable daily commuting.
Who it‘s for:
- Commuters with a 10-20 km daily ride
- Riders who want solid range without spending €2,000+
- People who have somewhere to store a 26.5 kg bike
Who it‘s not for:
- Anyone who needs to carry their bike regularly
- Riders who want a head-turning design
- People with very limited storage space
FAQ – DUOTTS Long-Term Questions
Q1: How‘s the battery holding up after 1,000 km?
Still strong. I’ve lost maybe 5-8% of original capacity, which is normal for any lithium battery. I expect to get another 2-3 years out of it before replacement.
Q2: Any mechanical issues so far?
One puncture (my fault, rode over a nail). The brakes needed adjusting at around 800 km – standard maintenance. Nothing that would make me question the build quality.
Q3: Would you recommend DUOTTS to a friend?
Yes – with the caveat that they understand what they‘re buying. It’s a solid, affordable commuter e-bike. It‘s not a premium brand, but it doesn’t pretend to be.

Bottom Line
1,000 km in, my DUOTTS has done everything I asked of it. It‘s not glamorous. It’s not lightweight. But it gets me to work, to the shops, and out of the city on weekends – reliably and affordably.
“If you want a powerful e-bike without breaking the bank, DUOTTS delivers.”
